1. Jimmy Maher

James Patrick Maher, known as Jimmy Maher, was born on February 2, 1974, in Kilcoy, Queensland. He is a former Australian cricketer who played as a left-handed batsman. Maher represented Queensland and Australia in various cricket competitions. He made his debut for the Queensland Bulls in 1992 and played for them until his retirement in 2008. Maher also played for the Australian national team in One Day Internationals (ODIs) between 1997 and 2005.

2. Neil Davidge

Neil Davidge is a renowned composer and record producer born in Somerset Region, Queensland. He is best known for his work as a composer and producer for the British electronic music group Massive Attack. Davidge played a pivotal role in the production of their albums, including "Mezzanine" and "100th Window." Apart from his work with Massive Attack, he has also composed music for films, TV shows, and video games.

3. Sam Thaiday

Samuel Arthur Thaiday, commonly known as Sam Thaiday, was born on June 12, 1985, in Manly, Queensland. He is a former professional rugby league footballer who played for the Brisbane Broncos in the National Rugby League (NRL). Thaiday spent his entire NRL career with the Broncos and played as a second-row forward and lock. He was known for his athleticism, powerful running, and strong defensive skills. Thaiday also represented the Australian national team and Queensland in State of Origin matches.

4. Peter Beattie

Peter Douglas Beattie was born on November 18, 1952, in Sydney, New South Wales, but spent a significant part of his political career in the Somerset Region. He served as the Premier of Queensland from 1998 to 2007, representing the Australian Labor Party. Beattie's tenure as Premier was marked by various notable achievements, including significant infrastructure development and economic growth in Queensland. After retiring from politics, he held several positions, including Chairman of the Australian Rugby League Commission.

5. Joh Bjelke-Petersen

Sir Johannes "Joh" Bjelke-Petersen was born on January 13, 1911, in Dannevirke, New Zealand. He migrated to Australia and served as the Premier of Queensland for 19 years, from 1968 to 1987. Bjelke-Petersen was associated with the Somerset Region through his family-owned peanut farm located in the region. He was a prominent figure in Queensland politics, known for his conservative policies and approach. Although his leadership was controversial, he played a significant role in the development of regional Queensland.
